This issue does not appear to criticize or praise any of the presidential candidates let alone the president-elect, is neutral with respect to all parties. Are only interesting data collected by yours truly, me, during my first experience of voting.
This February 7, 2010 we were aware, as Costa Ricans are, in the presidential elections the person who wins the most attention, which brings a flashy campaign, which is engaged in its campaign to put people in it, who would better understand the plan of government and his speeches in debates and in press conferences and interviews and all that his party has a history in the country. Other items will also help, but nothing as important as those. This in a nutshell that means "does not win the best" (Preparence for filling spoken)
In human history there are major changes that occur as time passes but in reality if we to investigate these changes might have occurred much earlier if ubiera not been for the bad side that puts most people to change. And is that both in books and in films, novels, short stories, magazines, etc, has shown that homo sapiens sapiens is not a kind that you like sudden changes as you move the keys to another shelf that will change your keyboard for another or give you a car different, even more beautiful or again (that in a modern context). Some small changes can make a person spend a whole day, week, month or even a year in a bad mood. Imagine then what would happen if you say that in fact the earth is flat or not Pluto is a planet or the major scale can be heard sad? or for example what if we tell our grandparents that have been Liberationists a lifetime (some) that the candidate of his party is garbage as a person? (I mean no candidate last election, this is hypothetical, or is not a subliminal message) The first impression may be a hideous face of bad taste to everything you think, in other cases only get to laugh, because they trust that the spirit of former leaders is still in the game when ... no. I can show with just my social studies books that the mentality of the members of the PLN do not think, at least 60% or equal to its creators.
Now, why Half a democracy? Well, anyone can tell me what is the percentage of senior citizens who read the government plans to potential candidates? We are certainly talking about less than 8% of voters put interest in these documents. Added to this, people do not understand political or economic terms as "Austerity" do not really like us to value properly our future leaders and on the other hand, are chosen for their participation in the media, and in fact, are manipulators of truth in some cases, in others by the treatment to seek it with sincerity.
In conclusion, the voter can only hope that people think it does not screen candidates. So, on the other million reasons, promoting education is essential to realize that there are actually around us and how to respond to scenarios like this.
